The health impacts spread beyond those suffering from the disease to those who are carers, who also suffer a variety of physical and mental health issues as a result. In Australia Alzheimer's Australia report that every 6 minutes a person is diagnosed with Dementia. It is the single biggest cause of disability of those over 65. In Qld 13.6% of our population is aged 65+. These figures are a caution as to the significant societal impact we are facing.
